How did she get herself into this? Trapped for two weeks with her biological father in the outback. With Giants. Xandra's convinced this trip is going to be a nightmare, and the fates are determined not to let her down. But, with Kallen and her friends by her side, there isn't anything she can't handle. Right?
Blood of Half Gods Book 5 of The Witch Fairy Series eBook Bonnie Lamer
I look forward to any new books that the author publishes and the latest addition in the Witch Fairy series does not disappoint!Xandra, Kallen, Kegan, and Alita are going on a road trip with her biological father, the King, Dagda. That, in itself, has to be a recipe for disaster. I loved the fact that they are traveling in what is basically the Fairy Kingdom's version of a Class A motorhome - a two story house that is run by a team of fairies that keep it floating. They are traveling to the Land of the Giants to try to resolve issues between the two Giant tribes before they turn into a war.
Xandra has some very amusing interactions with Dagda's chief of security, Radella that makes some of her previous magic mishaps in the other books seem tame. Unfortunately, someone/something doesn't want Xandra and the rest of the crew to get to the Giants and uses Xandra's newest abilities against her.
The Chief of one of the tribes of Giants, Quinn, is a great new character and seeing "giant land" through Xandra's eyes is interesting. The chairs are too big, you can't see over the table, and even the sandwiches are the size of her head. The author literally brings the entire "world" to life and you can picture each of the scenarios like it is a movie that you are watching. Somehow, Xandra finds herself appointed as the "arbitrator" between the two tribes. As anyone who has read this series will understand, tact is not one of her strong points which leads to great interaction between Quinn and Xandra.
The character's interaction and dialogue is always realistic and amusing. Xandra's "snarky" little asides and running commentary to herself will literally make you laugh out loud.
As a mother of a 15 yr old daughter, I appreciate books that we both can read and enjoy. It is funny that some of the lines end up stuck in your head and one of us will "say" it to the other at some later date and burst out laughing. We get strange looks but it is a great thing to be able to share and I appreciate the fact that the author gives us not only entertainment while reading her books but makes them memorable enough to recall later.
If you haven't read the other books in the series, I strongly suggest starting at the beginning - you won't be disappointed! Now, we just have to wait impatiently for the next book to come out ..

Blood of Half Gods Book 5 of The Witch Fairy Series eBook Bonnie Lamer Reviews
I have a problem- I stated this in review I did on the previous book- with her attitude. It seems to get worse in this book. She isn't growing or maturing. She stomps around the different houses/palaces/coaches and throws tantrums- and having the same fights followed by obligatory make out session with Kallen followed by blushing whenever anyone says anything about it.
The plot itself was good. The repeats in tantrums and petty fights with Kallen get old.
I have been a fan of this series since the start which actually surprises me. I thought it would be too juvenile for my personal taste but I have found Xandra to be mature for her age which makes her character easier to relate to.
This series has much more interaction with Dagda, Xandra's biological father. I am enjoying getting to know him as a father. He is making progress and appears to be trying to make an effort to be a positive supportive person in Xandras life. He isn't pushing her too hard and I very much enjoy that the author has not made Xandra instantly embrace him and accept him into the father role.
As always, there is a bevy of interesting characters and creatures in the story and the telling of the story flows nicely. Xandra is quickly making progress and learning how to live with her powers. I enjoy her flaws, trials and tribulations as she grows. I am also particularly happy, despite Xandra being quite powerful, she did not instantly master her powers.
Her boyfriend, Kallen, seems to be a great match for her and I had liked that they have been mature about the relationship and had not forced themselves into early marriage...****SPOILER ALERT**** At the end of the story Xandra and Kallen had sex and immediately after an angel pops in and basically says, "whoops, sorry I was a little late but there are some residual effects..." yadda yadda yadda. The ending of this story didn't flow quite right with me. Every other interaction with the angels were in the nick of time and this one was late. I realize this is a set up for something in the future but it just didn't line up quite right. I also don't like that Xandra is, essentially, getting a free pass and no one is going to be aware (except her) that she and Kallen had intercourse (again, I realize this is leading to something in a future book). The reason it bothers me is Xandra has always been level headed and had said, just a few pages before, that she "doesn't keep things from Kallen." Well, that is a pretty big contradiction and change in character from what I knew and appreciated about Xandra. I also realize she is still young but she has always been responsible. She had previously in this book, had quite the internal monologue about how she was able to accept responsibility for what she had done and the decisions she had made. It is for this reason I gave this book 4 stars rather than 5. The contradictions of her character were quite disappointing.
As a side note, yes there are a couple of grammatical errors. They did not detract from the story whatsoever and the only reason I mention them is because this is a review of the story.
Overall, this is a great book and a great addition to a very enjoyable series and I am eagerly awaiting the next.
A good story, but your practice of breaking one book into 6 just to make extra money is disgusting. I fully understand and agree that people should be rewarded for their creativity. But there is a fine line between rewarded and greedy.
As I have mentioned before, your talent makes this ending go from a frustrating cliffhanger to a sublime ending. As the saying goes "every thing in it's proper place and time". The coming together of Xandra and Kallen was no surprise, but the way you were able to weave the details toward their next adventure goes from ordinary to extraordinary shows your commitment to your passion for writing, as well as to your audience. As far as writers go, you are a true "Witch Fairy" in every way. Keep kicking butt and taking names!!!!!!! As always, thanks...Lisa
I have every book of this series and I love them so much. I have many LOL moments with them, many giggles and lots of smiles. This book though, had me laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. The trip on the coach was hysterical. Her thoughts were the funniest part. Thank you, Bonnie.
